As a result, it’s more critical than ever that students graduate with the 21st-century literacy and technology skills they need to navigate and succeed in our increasingly interconnected, digital world. This is the 25th anniversary year of CoSN, the national association of school district technology leaders/CTOs.  What have been the key shifts that have shaped the use of technology in education?  CoSN’s CEO discusses key shifts from Digital Divide to Digital Equity, from Acceptable Use to Responsible Use, from Privacy to Trust.  Using the Horizon K-12 annual reports of the last decade, peek into our crystal ball and see what key trends that education leaders need to understand and leverage if we are to personalize learning going forward.

Our discussion will also focus on "beyond the exam" and how the CETL Certification has prepared and helped them in their profession. Augmented And Virtual Reality are tools that have quickly become a staple in the toolbox of teachers.
At the beginning of our session we will explore a few of the apps that can be used right away to bring augmented reality experiences to the classroom. In addition, we will explore ways that a district can create and leverage their own augmented reality channel for learning and engagement. Equipment and technical needs will be discussed.

We wouldn't end a session like this without exploring Google Expeditions! Within the last few years, Google has entered into exciting world of Virtual Reality! Cardboard is Google’s low cost, fascinating solution that uses low cost viewer hardware combined with a mobile phone to create immersive, rich media experiences. During this hands on session, participants will learn about how the technology works, where it is heading in education with Google Expeditions, and the technical considerations to get started with Google Cardboard/Exhibitions in your district!
